You think a $4000 HD video recorder is an appropriate investment for entry into video production???
Note that the reason most shooters still prefer tape is because it's a good *archival* storage format. Don't bother sitting around comparing the cost of *temporary* storage like flash or HDDs or SSDs with tape. It's apples and oranges.
