Have you checked the service agreement? Some sites have free and pay plans with different limits.
I just let my Flickr Pro account expire since Yahoo is now a vassal of M$. So I have now lost access to all but my most recent uploads. The photos are still on Flickr and accessible via direct link, but invisible to me when I log in. They claim they will not delete them and access will be restored if I pay up.
