Of course not. More like little handheld wireless computers, which is exactly what they are. Transmitting spoken words is fast becoming a secondary or tertiary function of these things. Stats already show that text messaging has become the primary communications means employed by cell phone users. I really think that we need to stop regarding cell phones simply as modern and updated versions of those old phones of yore that pretty much did nothing more than carry speech and mostly sit harmlessly on desks as they did so.
