I should say on this that there is probably a better solution for distributions using systemd. But since Debian still uses SysV and Ubuntu uses upstart, we'd need different solutions for those. Perhaps down the road if everyone converges on systemd, we could change the script to do things the systemd way. For now, this solution should work on all distros, I think.
