Not conkeror-specific, but: Ubuntu's approach of having formally recognized "PPA" package-specific apt sources for things outside of the main release seems like something you'd find useful - with debian, you probably *shouldn't* be changing your sources.list (especially with recent versions, where you have /etc/apt/sources.list.d to put additional snippets in) but ubuntu does the extra work to provide a supportable answer for when you do, and even tells you (on the individual project page) what snippet to add. (I found this particularly useful for the new version of KPhotoAlbum.)
(oh, and emacs22 does highlight mouse-selected text; if you hit M-space twice instead of once, it does it for keyboard-selected text too, and I'd assume you could make that the default.
