I'm not sure what this conversation is
about. There was no national election in 2002. Lots of Democrats won
office. A few more Republicans won office. A good many people who
voted for Democrats could claim that they hoped their candidate would, within
reason, fight against Bush judicial nominees. A good many people who voted
for Republicans could claim that they hoped their candidate would, within
reason, for for Bush judicial nominees. The real issue is whether
abrogating the filibuster rule fits the "within reason" qualification.
Since no one thinks that at stake in the election, I can't figure out what we
are talking about.
