One often reads that Hamilton (Adams?) looked favorably on creating a monarchy in the United States. Was any other founder similarly disposed? Is there any source--article or book--that discusses the reasons for wanting an American monarchy? Was the prospect of creating a monarchy seriously discussed in the press at that time? Off-list replies are fine. Thanks.
