Call for Participation: Natural disasters and cultural heritage in the Philippines: Knowledge sharing, decision making and conservation
Tuesday 4 April to Thursday 6 April 2017 Tagbilaran City and Towns on the island of Bohol, the Philippines In 2017 the 'Natural disasters and cultural heritage in the Philippines: Knowledge sharing, decision making and conservation' will draw upon the expertise of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts (SEAMEO SPAFA), community knowledge holders together with the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, the University of Melbourne under the auspices of the 5th APTCCARN Meeting (Asia Pacific Tropical Climate Conservation Art Research Network (http://www.aptccarn.com/). The forum aims to expand people to people linkages among a diverse range of skills, capabilities and experiences of cultural materials conservation recovery and disaster management. It will be led by community knowledge holders and cultural heritage practitioners to share their recent experiences from natural disasters and cultural heritage recovery projects in the Philippines. The forum invites heritage professionals to discuss cultural heritage disaster recovery and decision making in community. Presentations may discuss the dynamics of change, the environment and it is unpredictable nature. With a primary focus on movable cultural heritage, presentations will include active participation and learning for Asia Pacific participants working in the field of cultural heritage and education, as well as local and international heritage professionals, interested individuals and Parish communities. It will comprise of a 3- day intensive forum which will include study visits, sharing sessions, group activities and practical workshops and presentations. Contributions will be submitted as fully written papers to be published as a peer reviewed publication in 2018.
