I am currently looking at the efficacy of different deterrent methods for reducing the amount of unwanted touching of objects on display by visitors, e.g. ropes, signs, plinths. I have found research around the subject, such as the effect of the museum environment on visitor enjoyment and learning, and balancing access with preservation.

Has anyone undergone or come across research on how well different deterrent methods work (published or not)?

Many thanks
