The Institute of Conservation Metals Group is pleased to announce its 2017 Autumn Conference & Annual Group Meeting, to be held 9th November 2017, at the Tate Britain.
Call for Papers is NOW OPEN. This year’s theme is: Conservation of Composite Objects: Compounded Challenges & Diverse Treatments Abstracts of up to 250 words are invited for submission by Friday 15th September 2017. The Icon Metals Group one-day conference will focus on the conservation of composite objects. Under discussion will be challenges related to the assessment, conservation, display and storage of composite objects and structures with a metal component. We invite submissions from public and private practitioners, teachers and researchers who have experience of working with composite objects. Papers are invited for 20-minute presentations on the challenges of composite objects with a view to generate discussion of: • Adverse interactions of materials within an object • Display and storage of composites - problems and possible solutions • Conflicting treatment requirements • Decision-making and prioritisation • Complex cases - how objects are assessed and treated • Collaborative working to deliver different conservator skill sets Please submit abstracts (up to 250 words) to Dr Nicola Emmerson ([email protected]) by Friday 15th September 2017. Please include: presentation title and author details (full name and institutional affiliation) plus a brief author biography (up to 100 words) and profile picture.
