*Salary: * From £37,706 per annum *Closing Date: * Wednesday 25 October 2017 *Interview Date: * Monday 06 November 2017 *Reference: *COA250 Lincoln Conservation is a conservation and heritage consultancy that operates as a commercial arm of the University of Lincoln. The consultancy works closely with the Conservation programmes at the University of Lincoln and with them is based in state of the art facilities at the University’s Brayford Pool campus. The consultancy specialises in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, the interior and exterior features of listed and historic buildings, historic artefacts, collections management, historic paint analysis and research, digital conservation and heritage services. Clients include English Heritage, the National Trust and Historic Royal Palaces. Lincoln Conservation is seeking a senior research fellow who will: oversee delivery and project management of the consultancy’s ongoing projects; produce and oversee reports for Lincoln Conservation’s commercial clients; bring an extensive client list, cultivate new clients, and deliver new projects. She or he will be embedded fully in the University’s research culture and develop research for submission to Research Excellence Framework 2021 and beyond. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with academic colleagues within the conservation subject area, and will assist in the supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students. The successful applicant will have a range of experience in the research and conservation of historic interiors, and an expert knowledge of a variety of techniques and materials pertinent to the research and on-site conservation of historic decorative interiors. She or he will be competent in a range of conservation techniques, appropriate materials and be able to demonstrate sound ethical judgement in line with professional standards, which should be outlined fully in the application. Knowledge of 3D modelling and heritage visualisation is welcome, as is familiarity with portable XRF, and potentially other scientific analytical techniques (although not essential for this role). The ability and willingness to contribute to the School’s teaching programmes in conservation and/or history or art and architecture is also welcome. Although based at the University’s Brayford campus, he or she must be willing to travel regularly for site-based work. The ideal candidate will be, or will anticipate becoming very soon, an Accredited Conservator Restorer (ACR). The position is offered as a 1.0FTE appointment at grade 8, with a starting date from 1 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
