Morning
I would be very grateful if you would very kindly post the following on the
dist list:

From: Victoria Button, Senior Paper Conservator, V&A Museum, London
Subject title: Additives in adhesives:
We are currently working on a number of early 18th century designs that have
been adhered to support pages using a variety of adhesives. Instrumental
analysis has given us some indication of their makeup but we are wondering if
anyone has come across adhesives with the additions of chlorine, zinc, calcium,
barium etc. Or if anyone knows of any studies on the history of adhesives,
with specific reference to ingredients and dates of use, that would also be
very helpful.

Many thanks!
Best wishes
Victoria
