Thanks to the fluorescence of many materials present in our collections, it is possible to obtain relevant information not only about how objects were created but also about their material history in relation to their aging and degradation and about the transformations they undergone over time. This volume will provide an overview of the evolution of UV-Vis Fluorescence imaging techniques and will present current and future trends and technologies. In this publication, conservators, archaeologists, conservation scientists, professionals and students from related disciplines will find valuable information about the technical and instrumental aspects of the techniques. Case-studies will illustrate the potential of these techniques for use in day-to-day conservation practice and their limitations. TOPICS OF INTEREST · Clear examples of projects where this specific technique has been of decisive importance for the execution of a conservation treatment; · Novel applications of the technique in conservation case-studies; · Limitations of the technique in cases where one would have expected it to be of use. · Especially valuable combinations with other techniques to gain insights.
