Following the 4th IIC-ITCC 2018 workshop, the Palace Museum is delighted to announce our collaboration with the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC) to host a two-day symposium dedicated to paper conservation and its related studies. The Symposium aims to address the conservation, artistic and historical aspects of paper artefacts, ranging from painting and calligraphy, archives, film, photographs, ancient books across the East and West. 16 distinguished paper specialists and scholars from across the world will present case studies and latest research findings on the subjects. The Symposium will be a platform to connect Chinese and Western museum professionals to exchange views and experience on Paper Conservation as well as a chance to establish professional network. Dates Thursday, 1 Nov 2018 Full day of presentation, 9.00am ? 5.00pm Posters, 12 noon Friday, 2 Nov 2018 Full day of presentation, 9.00am ? 5.00pm Posters, 12 noon Technical Session A total of 16 specialists from various conservation institutions will be invited to present papers related to the conservation, display and studies on paper artefacts, including but not limited to: Painting and calligraphy Archives Film and photographs Ancient books Language English and Chinese; provided with simultaneous translation Registration Registration is free, including access to the technical sessions (with refreshments) and poster session. The registration form should reach the Organising Committee on or before the registration deadline on 15 July 2018. Poster Session To foster discussion and idea exchange, there are poster sessions included in the symposium. Interested parties can submit applications for poster presentation in the poster sessions, in topics related to painting and calligraphy, archives, film and photographs, as well as ancient books. For details, individuals can refer to the Application Form for Poster Presentation downloadable here. The application deadline for poster presentation is 15 July 2018. Scholarship is available for poster presenters in need to attend the symposium and to present the poster.
