Job Opportunity: Conservator at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (Friedrich
Farid Zink)



The Conservation Department of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) in
Kuala Lumpur is pleased to offer a one-year position for a wooden objects
conservator or a paintings conservator with experience in the treatment of
frames.



Primary responsibilities:


·      Carrying out conservation work on historic and contemporary frames
and wooden artifacts or paintings.

·      Contributing to and working on the physical well being of the
wood-based and wood-related objects of the collection.

·      Contributing to the processes involved in pest control; packing and
shipping; the control of temperature, relative humidity and light; the
design and mounting of exhibitions; and the improvement of storage
condition.

·      Assisting in and/or conducting any training program and/or
educational activities related to conservation and restoration of
artifacts; with specific focus on wood or paintings conservation.

·      Working on, and involved in, the processes of documentation of
artifacts.

·      Involvement in supervision work on wood conservation carried out by
other staff & junior conservators.



The full-time position is available from September 2018.



The applicant should be a graduate of a recognized conservation training
program or have equivalent training. Fluency in English language and
demonstrated visual, manual, research, documentation, and writing abilities
are required.
