Paintings Conservation Internship - Watts Gallery-Artists Village Watts Gallery Trust, a registered charity, is seeking to recruit an emerging Paintings Conservator for a six-month, part-time internship to run from September 2018 to February 2019. The successful candidate will take part in all aspects of collection care, conservation and restoration of the paintings collection at Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village, in Compton (Surrey, United Kingdom).
This Internship offers the opportunity for an early-career paintings conservator to develop a wide-range of collections and practical conservation experience. Playing a key part in the Curatorial department, this will include practical work on the preservation and restoration of the permanent collection, the preparation of loans and some involvement in the planned conservation of the G.F. Watts Chapel interior. The successful applicant will also contribute toward ongoing public engagement and outreach including conservation-related talks, tours and visitor enquiries. This Internship offers an opportunity for professional development for an ambitious and enthusiastic person to take on real responsibility, in a museum distinguished for its collections and exhibitions of nineteenth and early twentieth-century British art.
