Paintings Conservation Internship - Watts Gallery-Artists Village

Watts Gallery Trust, a registered charity, is seeking to recruit an emerging
Paintings Conservator for a six-month, part-time internship to run from
September 2018 to February 2019.
The successful candidate will take part in all aspects of collection care,
conservation and restoration of the paintings collection at Watts Gallery –
Artists’ Village, in Compton (Surrey, United Kingdom).

This Internship offers the opportunity for an early-career paintings
conservator to develop a wide-range of collections and practical conservation
experience. Playing a key part in the Curatorial department, this will include
practical work on the preservation and restoration of the permanent collection,
the preparation of loans and some involvement in the planned conservation of
the G.F. Watts Chapel interior. The successful applicant will also contribute
toward ongoing public engagement and outreach including conservation-related
talks, tours and visitor enquiries.

This Internship offers an opportunity for professional development for an
ambitious and enthusiastic person to take on real responsibility, in a museum
distinguished for its collections and exhibitions of nineteenth and early
twentieth-century British art.
