Just giving notice that applications for the position described below must be
received by end of business (EDT) on Monday, July 23.

Penn Museum's busy but congenial Conservation Department is seeking to hire a
Project Conservator for a one-year position. The Project Conservator is
responsible for carrying out conservation work associated with the African
Gallery project, under the supervision of the Lead Exhibition Conservator. The
primary duties include providing treatment proposals, environmental
recommendations, and mount information on objects selected for exhibition;
carrying out necessary treatments; keeping written, photographic, and
electronic records of work; and keeping current with developments in the field
through readings, conferences, online discussions, and personal contacts. The
exhibition time line will lead to emphasis on treating a large number of
objects rather than in-depth research or technical studies. This position is a
term-funded position that is scheduled to end on September 30, 2019, with any
renewal subject to funding and Museum needs.

The candidate must be a graduate of a recognized Masters-level conservation
training program with at least three years of professional experience after
graduation, preferably in a similar institution. Sound work habits, personal
initiative, and organizational skills, excellent written and verbal
communication skills, along with the ability to undertake moderate to heavy
lifting are essential. Candidate will uphold collegial and collaborative
working relationships with conservation staff and other departments.

This is a time-sensitive project so applicants should be available to start as
soon as September 1, 2018 and will need to be eligible to work in the US at
that time.
