OSG-RATS Joint Session The Objects and Research and Technical Studies specialty groups invite papers to a joint session related to the conference theme of New Tools, Techniques, and Tactics in the context of the technical investigation of objects and their conservation. We welcome a range of topics to explore adapting tools for the study of three-dimensional objects, innovative conservation materials or novel applications of old ones, and new ways to look at the construction, degradation and conservation of objects. Please contact Matthew Clarke (RATS Program Chair, [email protected]) or Jessica Arista (OSG Program Chair, [email protected]) with any questions. How to Submit an Abstract The online abstract submission portal is now open. The submission portal and guidelines are accessible here: www.conservation-us.org/abstracts. When you have logged into the portal, choose "abstract submissions," which include both talks and posters. AIC allows authors to prioritize their application to participate in one of the three session types: All-Attendee (General), Specialty Group, or Poster. There is not a separate category for joint sessions this year. Any abstract submitted to the OSG or RATS section automatically will be considered for the joint OSG/RATS session. The submission deadline for paper abstracts is September 15, 2018. Abstracts should be 500 words maximum. In the case of multiple authors please list all authors and include an email address for each author, indicating corresponding author. Please state on the abstract and in the email subject line to which session you are submitting. Please note that RATS will produce a post-print of annotated power-points from their sessions. These annotated power-points are due by June 30, 2019. Matthew L. Clarke, Ph.D. Conservation Scientist Department of Conservation and Scientific Research Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M.
