The National Gallery of Art seeks a candidate to serve as Painting Conservator, reporting to the Head of Painting Conservation. The person selected for the position will be responsible for the examination and treatment of paintings in the permanent collection and on loan to the Gallery; preparing appropriate documentation; recommending appropriate exhibition and storage guidelines; technical studies that inform Gallery exhibitions and publications; research on artists' methods and materials; and outreach by sharing research findings and conservation activities through lectures, tours, and responses to professional and public queries. The grade of this position is a GS-12 and qualifications are commensurate with those at a mid-career level in the profession. The position is full-time and benefits are provided.
