M5C 1J3 (steps from King subway station) This event is a follow-up to the”2017 Gladstone Forum: An Evening of Innovation in Paper Conservation” in what we hope will be a bi-annual TACG conservation event. The presentations are a series of case studies and research topics that relate to the idea of conservation driving the management and care of collections. The hat of a conservator and the hat of a collections management professional are so interlinked that in a number of smaller institutions they are done by the same person. We feel it is important to highlight the symbiotic relationship between these two fields and the need for highlighting how they drive each other. We are also soliciting posters by practitioners and students relating to the topic of preventive conservation that Forum participants can view while mingling. Please email [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> The presentations are as follows: • Simon Lambert, Canadian Conservation Institute: “Findings from the ICCROM Survey ‘Tools and resources in preventive conservation: the user perspective’” • Karla Livingston & Kristiina Lahde, Royal Ontario Museum: “CEREX fabric: Solutions for storing the Textile and Costume collections at the Royal Ontario Museum” • Melissa Maltby & Greg Kelley, Royal Ontario Museum: “ Moving Heaven and Earth: Re-housing the ROM’s Canadian and European Furniture Collections “ (Presented at CAC Kingston last Spring) • Rebecca Ploeger, Aaron Shugar Patricia H. and Richard E. Garman Art Conservation Department, SUNY Buffalo State, Buffalo NY: “Teaching preventive conservation and conservation science to art conservation graduate students: Integrating the classroom with the community“ • Ruth del Fresno-Guillem, PhD (Polytechnic University of Valencia), Conservator in private practice: “Deterioration, a concept to be reviewed. The artist interview will help to identify what is damage and what is not” For more information (e.g. abstracts and presenter bios) please visit our website: http://torontoconservators.wixsite.com/tacg/tacg-forum A very special thank you to the following sponsors who helped make this event happen: The Canadian Association for Conservation https://www.cac-accr.ca/ The Japanese Paper Place www.japanesepaperplace.com<http://www.japanesepaperplace.com> XC Art Restoration www.artrestoration.ca<http://www.artrestoration.ca> John Slavin Paper Conservation Ltd.
