Hello, Has anyone been doing research on polishing or reducing scratches on plastics, especially translucent colored poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA/acrylic)?
The Novus System, which has been successful for clear PMMA, often creates hazing and cloudiness on colored PMMA. It requires a finer polishing grit. I've heard some people have success with alumina 0.05 microns in a water slurry, but it has not worked for my tests. I have also been reading up on different publications for filling scratches on PMMA face-mounted photographs. I am curious about testing their methods for sheets that have more overall abrasion rather than local gouges. Interested to hear what anyone else may be doing!
