dear colleagues,
I work in a historical castle with a large collection of printed cotton wall panels and a smaller collection of historical furniture, paintings and such. The castle is maintained by the government and most rooms are open for public on limited times. The cleaning crew was asked to use a new cleaning product for the (new) wooden floors, windows and other non historical surfaces. The product is called Probio by Greenspeed. According to the label it works with micro-organisms. It contains bacteria in endospore form who form enzymes that break down the dirt. Since it will only be used on non historical surfaces and will not come in contact with the collection I would think it is safe to use. But some argue that it is unsure how the bacteria develop and what the impact will be on the environment of the building. Is there anyone with experience with this (kind of) product? thank you kind regards, Jefta Lammens Conservation August Van Lokerenstraat 82 9050 Ledeberg (Gent) +32496.63.25.59 [email protected] ****** Unsubscribe by sending a message to [email protected] Searchable archives: http://cool.conservation-us.org/byform/mailing-lists/cdl/
