Helping you to attend Conference? Thirteen bursaries available for Leeds #ARA2019 – a record Deadline for applications: 30 April Conference speakers eligible to apply
The Archives and Records Association announces today that members from the UK, Ireland and overseas can now apply for bursaries to attend this year’s ARA annual Conference at the Queens Hotel in Leeds from 28-30 August. Non-members may apply for one of the Diversity bursaries sponsored by kevinjbolton ltd. Thirteen bursaries are available this year in total, a record. Our Conference theme this year is 'Record Keeping 3.0’, and the draft programme and special ‘early-bird’ registration is now available on the conference website: https://conference.archives.org.uk/<http://track.smtpsendemail.com/6023161/c?p=3n7DzjwCbcCNqefdZedAcpNoK5EI40A7aP4fdVqWbGq79UBOpi5g5XvgMoLg_yVvVA09Z0pkWAs9pcCx-Bx1Ft4BfwRPofU5nIsuIpBJHeJ6N52VjqfGb6NT-j7REk-A> Best value in the sector The ARA Conference is the best-value event of its kind in the sector: the full delegate fee includes accommodation, food and a concentrated three-day programme. Delegate fees for 2019 are the lowest since 2013. At the same time, the Conference committee recognises the difficulty many members face in finding the finances or time off to attend. It has therefore developed special day-attendance fees and bursaries to help people attend who might not otherwise be able. Within the overall theme, each day will have its own separate theme: • Our careers • Our workplace • Our profession The programme has parallel strands on Archives and Records, Digital and Media, Conservation and (new for 2019) Information Governance. Each day will feature a keynote speech, and at the Information Village you see and discuss the latest ideas from companies and innovators in our sector. We recall the ’30-minute Makeovers’ that were such a success last year in Glasgow and presentations on what your association is doing for you, including on pay and conditions. There will be one-to-one professional development clinics for ARA members and a revisit of our 2018 Glasgow Manifesto, with its mission to improve diversity and inclusion in the sector. The bursaries Full bursaries cover full Conference attendance (the three-day programme, two nights’ accommodation at the Queens Hotel and three meals a day) and travel expenses of up to £100. We have four types of bursary this year: A. ARA Bursaries To apply you must be an individual member of the Association who has been a member for at least one year and who is, at the closing date for applications, either a student member, a full member, an overseas member or is registered on the conservation certificate course. Four full ARA Bursaries are available. B. New Professionals Bursary One full bursary is available for members of the ARA Section for New Professionals who have never attended an ARA conference or received an ARA bursary of any sort. The funds for this bursary are raised by crowd-funding. If you no longer qualify as a new professional but could spare a fiver to help a colleague attend Conference, please visit: https://www.goldengiving.com/appeal/archives-and-records-association<http://track.smtpsendemail.com/6023161/c?p=GdTGqJreCvJUNX_IjIGzgm3LXzcHv4V6krKOlrTRaSXocQcPl3ziFC_db0R0r7nniNn6yr7nbeIE55tEP3KqsYdWFrnt3MRo3b-3X2UxOuaC8GfLARaF5Ol-ZxAHeFPfKVocOtpcqoMx7dyiG7IdeUCd8whK7NYRV1TZbSiKUzzRMtjzc8-sbK_HqnxRu1zj> In 2018, so many people gave generously that we were able to award a second, day bursary to a new professional. C. Ancestry Bursaries Four bursaries are available through our Premier Conference sponsors Ancestry.co.uk These bursaries are available to archivists, including archive managers, company archivists, principal archivists and collection managers from a local authority archive who have either never attended the ARA Conference before or have not attended in the last three years (ie were not at Glasgow 2018, Manchester 2017 or London 2016). D. Diversity Bursaries sponsored by kevinjbolton ltd One full bursary is available for ARA members or non-members who do not have a postgraduate qualification in archives and records and have a Black and Minority Ethnic background Three day-bursaries (ie, to attend one Conference day of choice) are available for ARA members or non-members with or without a postgraduate qualification in archives and records and who are from a Black and Ethnic Minority background.
