Ninth MaSC Meeting
National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa

Registration for the Ninth Meeting of the Users' Group for Mass Spectrometry 
and Chromatography (MaSC) is open. The two-day meeting at the National Gallery 
of Canada will include presentations on the following topics:


*         Wood species identification using TD-GCMS

*         Characterisation of traditional Chinese handmade papers by Py-GCMS

*         GCMS assessment of solvent cleaning effects on Asian lacquers

*         Analysis of European lacquers using Py-GCMS

*         GCMS identification of historical dye sources in Chilkat robes

*         A GCMS study of fish oils in 20th century house paints

*         Investigation of fluidising oil paints on paintings by Nikolaus Moser

*         MS analysis  of Royal Talens' oil and tempera paints

*         Study of cellulose nitrate objects by EGA-MS and TD/Py-GCMS

*         Identifying 2000-year-old protein remains on ceramics using MS 
techniques

*         GCMS characterisation of black coatings on ancient Egyptian coffins

*         Palaeoproteomic analysis of paint binders and adhesives used in 
ancient Egypt

*         Selected ion flow tube-mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) in heritage science

*         Qualitative and quantitative interpretation of GCMS data using the 
ESCAPE system

*         A comparison of derivatisation techniques for GCMS analysis of oils, 
waxes and resins

Registration for the GCMS workshop, to be held prior to the meeting, 3-5 June 
at the Canadian Conservation Institute and Parks Canada, is now closed.
