Fiona McLees asked about pH induced color shifts in paper. In the mid-1980's I
noticed that some pens, especially felt tips, aged very differently depending
on the type of paper they were used on. Some black felt tips bled out a yellow
component very quickly when they were applied to some alkaline papers, but were
much more stable on acidic paper. I made up some samples in 1989 which have
been naturally aging since then. I'd be happy to send you observations and
images if you like.
