Do you have knowledge and experience in object conservation and would like to 
work with our outstanding Medical collections?

The Science Museum is seeking an object conservator to work effectively to plan 
and implement installation for over 4000 objects in the new Medicine Galleries. 
The galleries, due to open in late 2019, will showcase our world-class Medicine 
collection in a new location at the heart of the Museum.

The successful candidate will be based mainly at the Science Museum in South 
Kensington but also sometimes at Blythe House in Kensington Olympia. You will 
work closely with the project teams and undertake installation of the objects 
of a wide range of materials from the museum's Medicine collections. You will 
also be carrying out condition checking, documentation, and advising on 
mounting, display and object protection upon install.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident communicating 
with a wide range of people.  You will have demonstrable skills in problem 
solving and prioritising and be able to demonstrate the ability to plan and 
execute your own work programmes. You are also expected to participate in the 
safe management and awareness of hazards within the collections; complying with 
current H&S regulations, in-house policies and safe working practices in the 
Conservation lab, gallery and object stores.

This role is offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis until the 31st October 2019.
