The Department of Chemistry and the Institute for Soft Matter Synthesis and Metrology of Georgetown University are pleased to announce an intense (2 week), tuition-free, short-course
SCIENCE FOR CONSERVATION: FUNDAMENTALS AND APPLICATIONS that will be held in 109 Regents Hall on the campus of Georgetown from 22 July until 2 August 2019. It will consist of 10 lectures, each of 3 hours duration, tentatively from 9:30 until 12:30 on Mondays through Fridays. The instructor will be Dr. Emiliano Carretti (https://www.unifi.it/p-doc2-2018-0-A-2c303b293a2d-1.html) of the Department of Chemistry and the CSGI (Consorzio per lo Sviluppo dei Sistemi a Grande Interfase) at the University of Florence. Dr. Carretti is a well-known researcher in the fields of art conservation and conservation science. The course will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants, selected from among the applicants. Prerequisites for the course are not defined absolutely, but organic, inorganic and analytic chemistry or equivalents based on materials science or equivalent background training are highly recommended. Participants are expected to commit to attend all of the lectures.
