Volume 33, Issue 57 Maria Melendez Baez discusses problems in consolidating iridescent glass. In Volume 33, Issue 58 Barry Knight suggests that the white appearance resulting from consolidation might be a result of a differing refractive index between the glass and B-72. This should not cause it to turn white. Rather, the problem is high humidity. Consolidating glass with acetone or acetone/ethanol mixtures, will always result in "bloom" if the ambient humidity is high. This problem is worse for ethanol mixtures, as ethanol is extremely hygroscopic.
