Museum Textile Services (MTS), a full-service textile conservation
studio located
in Andover, Massachusetts, is seeking applicants for a full-time textile
conservator. This opportunity will provide an experienced conservation
professional with fulfilling and diverse projects for museums, private
collectors, and government agencies. Both off-site and in-studio work is
expected, with the probability of some overnight travel. MTS staff enjoy
annual teaching opportunities and paid time for research and publication.
Applicants must have prior art conservation experience, precise hand
stitching, excellent vision or vision correction, and an interest in
historic textiles and fashion. Computer and photography skills, lab
sensibilities, and the ability to lift 40 pounds are necessary. Minimum of
two years’ experience preferred. Must be eligible to work in the United
States. All MTS staff are required to follow the Code of Ethics and
Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation.
