The conservation of cultural heritage is an interdisciplinary field that
encompasses a broad range of topics, from the analysis and treatment of
various materials to the specification of buildings and rooms for the
storage or use of heritage collections. In 2014, the German language
DIN-Taschenbuch 409 was published, which comprises the first 18 publications
of CEN/TC 346 dealing with the conservation of cultural heritage. Since the
publication of DIN-Taschenbuch 409, 14 additional standards have been
published by the Committee. These have been compiled in DIN-Taschenbuch 410,
which was published in the autumn of 2018. The present volume – DIN Handbook
410 – mirrors the German publication but contains the English translations
of all 14 DIN EN Standards.
