Dear All, This is a request for survey participants for a post-graduate research project on the removal of brass-based "bronze" overpaint from gilding.
This survey is the beginning of a research project by Jasmine Guest, a post-graduate at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in historic interiors about the current methodology for the removal of brass-based paint, A.K.A bronze paint, from gilded surfaces. The objective of this research project is to assess what treatment are currently most commonly used, the reason why some treatments work better than others and how they can be modified to increase their accessibility and effectiveness. The answers are completely anonymous. The following survey is a total of 10 questions about the technique(s) that you or your work place most commonly use for the removal of brass-based paint from gilding.
