Vacancy at Durham University
Durham University is seeking a Senior Collections Care and Conservation Manager
The post-holder will lead the Conservation department based at Palace Green 
Library, which provides conservation and preservation services and guidance to 
the University Library, Archives and Special collections, and also the 
University Museums and University colleges.  The post-holder will manage a 
conservation team responsible for the collections care and remedial 
conservation of the book, document and object collections of archives and 
special collections
 
The conservation department is a centre of excellence in the region 
representing the highest professional standards in care of collections and 
remedial conservation. The exhibition galleries at Palace Green library have 
been developed to conform to the highest conservation standards required in 
order to display high profile exhibitions and major loans from national and 
international institutions, and is one of the national leaders in this field. 
The post-holder will be required to maintain this standard on behalf of the 
University and to look for new ways to develop and promote the reputation of 
the University in the field of collections care, exhibitions and conservation.
 
You will have a recognised professional qualification in conservation and 
accreditation through  professional body such as ICON or ARA. You will have 
specialist knowledge and expertise in conservation and collections care 
practices relating to archives and books, and show a commitment to continuing 
professional development.  You will have the ability to contribute to 
operational, strategic and policy planning, and to manage and develop a 
specialist team.  
 
Salary £41,526 - £49,553
Closing Date 7th October 2019 at noon
Interviews will be held on 31st October.  Candidates shortlisted for interview 
will be asked to bring with them a sample of their work.
