Location Science Museum at Blythe House - London

Salary £27,405 - £30,450 per annum

Do you have practical experience of 3D object remedial conservation treatment?
Have you managed teams of staff and delivered large projects?

As the largest and most ambitious programme the Science Museum Group has
undertaken in recent times, One Collection will transform how we care for,
access and share our http://collection.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
<http://collection.sciencemuseum.org.uk/> with the world. One Collection is the
Science Museum Group's major strategic initiative to re-imagine how our
world-leading collection of objects relating to science, technology, transport,
medicine and the media is cared for, accessed and shared.

Over the next five years we will be relocating approximately 320,000 objects
from Blythe House in West London, to a new purpose-built collection management
facility based in Wroughton, Swindon. From 2023 our new facility will open
regularly through a varied programme of public tours, school and research
visits.

We are looking for a knowledgeable Senior Conservator to manage a team of
Conservators and work alongside the Project Team to pack and move the
collection. Working with our policies and protocols, you will be conserving
items in the collection and ensuring they are safe for handling and moving.

You will be responsible for managing the object treatment programme element of
the project, ensuring it ties into the schedule for the packing programme.
Alongside this will provide support and guidance to the team around object
handling, and the principles of preventative conservation and the safe care and
packaging of objects.

Joining the team, you will hold a degree level conservation qualification and
come with significant experience managing a team. Experience working with 3-d
objects is also essential, along with knowledge of health and safety practices
including, but not limited to manual handling, collections hazard management,
lifting and moving equipment and COSHH assessments.

You will be offered excellent benefits, including a generous annual leave
allowance in addition to bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme, BUPA
medical and dental care, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff
discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
