Application open for the English Language Master's programme in Conservation
and Restoration at the University of Amsterdam

From 1 November 2019 it is possible to submit an application for the
English-language programme in the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural
Heritage at the University of Amsterdam for the courses that will begin in
September 2020. The UvA programme has built-up an excellent reputation with
strong international ties. The course provides a broad training covering both
the humanities and the sciences.

Training in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage in Amsterdam
is organised in two phases. The Master's programme in the Conservation and
Restoration of Cultural Heritage provides an introduction to the broader field
of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage providing skills that
enable the graduate to effectively communicate with professionals in the field.
In addition, the knowledge and skills obtained will develop the understanding
and application of relevant scientific research, especially with regard to
his/her chosen field of specialisation.

Once the Master's diploma has been obtained, graduates apply for the two-year
Advanced Professional Programme, the second phase of the UvA conservation
training that produces conservation-restoration professionals capable of
working independently. Graduates accepted for this final phase are financially
supported with a grant from the University of Amsterdam.

An English-language minor course, as an optional initial phase, is offered at
the University of Amsterdam for Dutch-language bachelor students wishing to
apply for the Master's course.

The Master's programme has nine specialisations which are offered alternately.
For the coming academic year 2020-2021 the following conservation-restoration
specialisations will be offered:
·      Book and Paper
·      Historic Interiors
·      Metal
·      Wood and Furniture
·      Photography

·      In the academic year 2021-2022 the specialisations offered will be:
