Job Description

The Project Conservator is responsible for carrying out conservation work 
associated with the 'Adornments' exhibition project under the supervision of 
the Head Conservator. The primary duties include providing a treatment 
proposal, environmental recommendations, and mount information objects selected 
for exhibition; carrying out necessary treatments; keeping written, 
photographic, and electronic records of work; and keeping current with 
developments in the field through readings, conferences, online discussions, 
and personal contacts.



Responsibilities

Assess the condition of objects selected for inclusion in an upcoming 
exhibition on the anthropology of adornments, providing a treatment proposal, 
environmental recommendations, and mount information.
 Carry out necessary treatments.
 Keep written, photographic, and electronic records of work.
 Keep current with developments in field through readings, conferences, online 
discussions, and personal contacts.
 Responsible for positive and helpful interactions with Museum visitors, acting 
as the Museum's host, answering questions and providing assistance as needed to 
ensure our guests encounter a welcoming atmosphere.
 Perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications

The candidate must be a graduate of a recognized Masters-level conservation 
training program with at least two years of professional experience after 
graduation or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in 
a similar institution.  Sound work habits, personal initiative, and 
organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, along 
with the ability to undertake moderate to heavy lifting are essential.  Due to 
time-sensitive nature of project, the applicants must be currently eligible to 
work in the US.



Position Terms

This is an 18-month term appointment with renewal contingent upon funding, 
satisfactory performance, and Museum needs.

Salary
$49,200 per annum, with full University benefits
