The Foundational Principles of Conservation for Digitisation in Libraries and Archives Workshop will be run by the EAP Africa hub, National University of Lesotho and The British library. This three-day workshop, which will include a mix of theoretical and hands-on sessions, will be run by British Library's conservators at the National University of Lesotho, 8th-10th October 2025 and focus primarily on books and paper-based materials. In this interactive Q&A session, Maddie Cooper will address your questions about the critical period following an emergency event, including: Strategic approaches to returning to normal operations Navigating and securing relief funding opportunities Developing effective communication during recovery phases Creating comprehensive after-action documentation Building institutional resilience for the future About Our Featured Expert Maddie Cooper serves as the Associate Preventive Conservator at the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), where she conducts preservation surveys, assessments, and facilitates educational programming. She also works in private practice on risk assessment and emergency planning projects. Her professional experience includes positions at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and the Wolfsonian-FIU, complemented by internships with the Disaster Research Center, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and the Midwest Art Conservation Center. Maddie's interdisciplinary academic background uniquely positions her to address both scientific and cultural aspects of conservation challenges. She holds: MS in Art Conservation from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation BA in Chemistry from the University of Delaware BA in Art Conservation with a minor in Art History from the University of Delaware Who Should Attend This session is valuable for collection managers, conservators, museum directors, archivists, librarians, cultural heritage preservation specialists, and risk management professionals at academic and cultural institutions.
