Benefit, with the University of Novi Sad, alongside HUMAK University of Applied Sciences, Forum Marinum Foundation, and Jelgava City Library. We have just published the ESG4GLAM Competency Framework, defining Environmental, Social and Governance competencies specifically for galleries, libraries, archives and museums. It is grounded in a mixed-methods needs analysis (154 professionals from 16 countries, six cross-country focus groups, 34 expert interviews) and structures 31 competencies across four domains, mapped to EQF levels 38. This Framework is now the foundation for the next phase of the project: a dedicated ESG training course for GLAM professionals. To make sure the course reflects the real priorities and working conditions of the sector, we need input from more than 100 GLAM professionals across Europe through a short survey of 5 questions. Proposals should reflect the meeting theme of Community of Trust and center focus on collaborative preventive care. Possible topics include: · Creating preventive care solutions that extend beyond the traditional boundaries of the conservation department or laboratory · Solutions that effect institutional preventive care – physical, capacity building, adaptive, and funding · How assessments and planning involving all institutional staff affect change in preventive care policies, procedures, and operational activities. · Sustainable solutions for preventive care · Collaborating and building trust with allied professionals Papers submitted may include sensitive materials and/or contested cultural heritage. For those who did not know him, he was an art conservator who became one of the original and leading experts in the conservation of contemporary art, including the founding of INCCA, the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art. For me, he was the motor to my career in conservation science. I was referred to him by another conservator friend when I first arrived in The Netherlands back in 1998. IJsbrand immediately took me under his wing and helped bring me into the fold at the then Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (ICN - Instituut Collectie Nederland), now the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. He was always an enthusiastic supporter of my work in conservation science, and he introduced me to the complexities and philosophy of conservation and conservation ethics. I will sorely miss our discussions and debates which we always blocked out in our calendars every four to six weeks so that nothing else would get in the way. In fact, it was he who suggested that I look into the Socratic method as a way of helping conservation professionals discuss issues dealing with conservation treatments and ethics without attacking each other, directly or indirectly, a method which I have been using for over 15 years now.
