Thank you for the references. I did in fact run across the second reference.
It would be nice if we could get by without using Kerberos, but I don't think
at this point that we can.
In order to provide domain users with write access to shares provided by the
Domain Member machine, the user needs to essentially have an account on the
Domain Member box. Winbindd provides this by mapping user and group accounts
on the domain controller to local UIDs on the Domain Member box.
So far, I have not been able to get winbindd to pull user and group accounts
from an active directory domain using just winbindd. I believe the that
Kerberos is needed to make this happen.
