Thanks for your attention here...
I've looked at both those, neither seem to apply, the archives are on two
different USB Drives, over the months I have looked at the emails sent each
night and there are no error messages AFAICT.
I also tried the mc plugin, and it showed no files in the archive. Which I
guess confirms the problem.
I'll do some experimenting with the actual archive and the dar package directly
on Monday to see if i can get closer to the error. Looks like I'll have to get
the HD disassembled by one of the specialists to recover my critical data.
I know that doing a "trial" restore is part of setting in place a sensible
backup strategy (i do this with my customers), but .....8-))
