==================================================================
Summary: After BackupPC install /opt/.. empty
Classification: Contribs
Product: SME Contribs
Version: 7.5
Platform: ---
OS/Version: ---
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: smeserver-BackupPC
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
QAContact: [email protected]
Scenario (for completeness/background): requirement to install much larger HDD
in current 7.5.1 server (250GB > 2TB). After consideration, decided most
straightforward method was as per hardware migration, backup to USB and restore
to new disks.
This was carried out as usual (with some issues of having to clear space as
owner had used all space on 250GB drives, again). Server had BackupPC contrib
installed: service was stopped and BackupPC set to disabled prior to
backup/restore. BackupPC installed on separate 750GB drive, disconnected prior
to backup/restore, intended to be reused.
Server reinstalled with 7.5.1 ISO, data restored from USB disk, post final
reboot all seemed well.
-Updates run
-Installed smeadmin contrib, worked fine.
-Installed BackupPC contrib as per instructions, rebooted, reconnected 750 GB
drive, and continued with instructions intending to reuse existing data on that
drive.
-Drive mounted correctly, links tested all OK.
However the BackupPC menu item in the interface did not work; result:
"Not Found
The requested URL /BackupPC was not found on this server."
This was searched in the forum and various things tried, but it was then seen
that there was no content (or directory) /opt/BackupPC
In case this had to do with the reuse of the old BackupPC disk, smeadmin and
Backup PC Contrib removed, new disk installed, yum cleaned, started again from
scratch, BackupPC reinstalled, repeated removal and reinstall various times but
same result.
In logs I saw (multiple repeats of):
1 (yum).
2011-05-15 12:26:52.341312500 Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo:
smeaddons
2011-05-15 12:26:52.369055500 yum list updates status 256
2011-05-15 12:26:52.732100500 Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: smeaddons
2011-05-15 12:26:52.732141500 Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo:
smeaddons
I therefore checked the mirror manually and did a yum clean, update, and
checked I could download the contrib and dependency. This message has not
re-occurred.
2 (yum).
2011-05-15 12:26:52.760475500 yum grouplist updates status 256

2011-05-15 12:36:05.967045500 Error: No Groups on which to run command
This continues but I don't understand it.

It looks like the install is somehow broken.
What else can I check?
BackupPC reports itself as running:
[root@luckies01 opt]# /etc/init.d/backuppc start
Starting BackupPC: [ OK ]
[root@luckies01 opt]# ps ax | grep BackupPC
5840 ? S 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /usr/share/BackupPC/bin/BackupPC -d
5843 ? S 0:00 /usr/bin/perl
/usr/share/BackupPC/bin/BackupPC_trashClean
5849 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep BackupPC
However, no files are installed to /opt post BackupPC install.
TIA
