I did
rpm -e smeserver-rkhunter rkhunter
deleted old (rpm.save) config files in /etc & /etc/sysconfig just to be sure
checked that cron job was no longer present
did a post-upgrade & reboot
checked with rpm -q smeserver-rkhunter rkhunter
definitely not installed
Then installed again using
yum install smeserver-rkhunter --enablerepo=smecontribs --enablerepo=smetest
This installed
smeserver-rkhunter-1.2.0-9.el5.sme
rkhunter-1.4.0-1.el5
followed with post upgrade & reboot
cd /etc/cron.daily
ls -al
total 72
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 12 09:53 .
drwxr-xr-x 88 root root 12288 Sep 12 09:53 ..
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 379 Mar 28 2007 0anacron
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1746 May 14 2012 rkhunter
........
So attributes look good now.
Will wait overnight for cron job to run & report back here.
