Hello,
as shortly discussed here
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=50556.msg254757#msg254757, I propose
to try to adapt Affa V3 to the sme8 than to solve the bugs of Affa V2 (M.
Weinberger is the meaning that it is the better way too).
At this time, I have done the installation:
http://wiki.nikoforge.org/Talk:How_to_move_Affa_from_SME-Server_to_a_Server_with_Affa_V3
and import the jobs:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=50556.msg254757#msg254757
and adapted this example of configuration to backup my virtual sme8.
Until this point, it works.
I have printed both scripts (Affa2 and Affa3) present into /sbin or
/sbin/e-smith of the unpacked rpm (~65 pages each!) and I have tried to
understand them and stated analysing the differences between them.
In the documentation of the V3 I have noticed new functions / parameters.
The targets that I would like to reach are:
1) to backup an to restore a sme8 (= basic function of a backup program)
a) with hard links (=parameter "dedup")
b) with a watchdog function (=parameter "NRPEtrigger"??)
2) to get the --rise and of course --rise-undo functions running
Even if (or because of??) I'm not a computer scientist, it seems not to be so
difficult to make the necessary modifications of the script of the V3, because
we can see in the V2 how the things are solved.
The attached file is my journal, my notes etc... and is by me used as
documentation for this "project".
Arnaud
