+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #8451 +++

Hello The WordPress contrib installed just fine and has been running for a
couple of months and today I went ahead and tried to allow WordPress to
"auto-update" to the newest core WordPress version 4.1 from my current 4.0 and
it error-ed out saying
"The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files.
This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.:
wp-includes/class-simplepie.php, wp-includes/class-phpmailer.php,
wp-includes/class-smtp.php"

In the log file I found the following entry from the time I tried to do the
wordpress update.
<this is what is found in the log file>

"Dec 30 00:43:12 sme-1 httpd: PHP Warning:  file_exists() [<a
href='function.file-exists'>function.file-exists</a>]: open_basedir restriction
in effect. File(/usr/share/wordpress/wp-includes/certificates/ca-bundle.crt) is
not within the allowed path(s):
(/usr/share/wordpress:/etc/wordpress:/tmp/:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php/) in
/usr/share/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php on line 864"

Not sure if this is where you wanted this or do you want a new bug number?
