Yes, you have; you've seen it with almost every SME Server package. There's a
package for the underlying software, and there's an smeserver-* package for the
configuration, templates, scripts, etc. This is nothing new to you, and
there's no reason it should be confusing to you now. Heck, you reported bug
8676, and much of the discussion of the split into two RPMs happened on that
bug.
And, as with most packages, you can install the underlying package (in this
case, dehydrated) without the smeserver-* package, but it won't do anything
without being manually configured.

You're getting hysterical. Please stop.
Nothing here compromises the safety of anything. And though I'm sure JPP is
entirely capable of defending himself, it was far from "rush work", and there
was validation done. And if the outcome now is that it doesn't work in some
cases, it doesn't work--it's still perfectly safe. Nothing gets harmed just
because dehydrated didn't run properly once.
