Not exactly, both the main VM and the test VM are behind a pfSense firewall.
But I have only one public IP address, and ports 80 and 443 (among others) are
forwarded to the main SME box. I doubt this is affecting the outcome, but I
don't think I could say for sure.

Don't know about that--again, last night, two (or more) consecutive calls to
dehydrated -c had the same (failing) result.
