You didn't mention about a 'web-proxy filter'

I'm not sure that 'whitelisted' is the same as unrestricted as you originally
mentioned. Unrestricted means there should be zero interference with anything,
but clearly there is.

That is good news. So it is an issue with your firewall and not with SME.

I have no idea, but I suggest you get to the bottom of it before you re-enable
things. It's a firewall issue, not a SME issue.

I have played with opensense before, but do not have a working system. I seem
to recall some stuff on their forums stuff with proxies etc messing about with
some things, and some settings to overcome this, but I can't remember
specifics. You really need to ask on their forums for a resolution.
