I just updated 7 servers & it's really not too onerous. You set up a free
account on MaxMind & generate a key per server (up to 25 keys are allowed on
the free account). It will generate a GeoIP.conf file which you can use as a
template to create a custom template based on the
/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/GeoIP.conf/10default fragment
The it's just a question of doing:
expand-template /etc/GeoIP.conf
and running
geoipupdate -v
to ensure that the account details are being accepted.
IMHO, nothing needs to change in the contrib apart from a clear note of what is
required to allow access to the MaxMind databases.
