Hmmm - that isn't necessarily as easy as you may think.

Mail (qpsmtpd does receiving not sending) already has lots of checks and
balances on permitted senders, but by adding a non private address as a relay
you drive a coach and horses straight through them all.

It can't stop what it has been told to allow...... This wasn't a 'breach'
because you had told the server to allow it, even though unwittingly.

The only way to see this sort of thing is some form of load monitoring eg
smeadmin will notify you of more than a certain number of mails in a period
etc. Maybe mailstats?

There are a number of other load monitoring systems you can add to watch your
server behaviour and set limits according to your usage. I guess Zabbix etc.

We're sorry that this affected you. We do try and test things to the best of
our ability but particularly with contribs we have lots of users but precious
little help so things can slip through. The real answer is to be more
involved.......

I know this is not what you really want to hear, but there are no other 'easy'
answers I'm afraid.
