Personally I find this sort of response 'disappointing'.
I'm sorry you are too busy earning money to help those of us who do this in our
spare time. Note that none of us are paid developers. We are all volunteers who
do this in our spare time.
The reasons incidents like this happen is because people like yourself just
wait and expect 'someone else' to do everything rather than helping and
testing. Please do not 'rely' on us for anything. That isn't in the open source
licence. We'll do what we can, when we can. YMMV.
So in reality you have no else to blame for the spam mails than yourself. As a
prudent sysadmin you really should have set up a test server and checked it out
and understood the software before deploying it. Modern tech means that is
completely trivial. You should have better monitoring systems, and been on top
of them for when things go wrong, be it this or anything else.

Yeah - an understandable problem for many of us. But you have to roll up
sleeves and get hands dirty and try, not wait for others to do it. I'm pretty
sure you are using some of my code in there somewhere. And believe me, I am no
coder. I just stopped making excuses and got stuck in.
A shame that you don't contribute some of those years of experience to helping
us. We need helping hands more than anything else. More hands = less problems.
Simples. You can be part of the problem, or part of the solution.
If you have further technical contributions to this bug like testing or
verification then please add them here.
A verification template can be found here.
