We can offer a discount on registration if they volunteer for enough hours, and there's also the possibility that they'll get to meet the guests or just plain see behind the scenes in the con. There's also little things like buttons, badge ribbons, stickers, etc. There's a whole psychology: stuff that's ONLY available to volunteers is inherently cooler than stuff that's available to everybody.
